In June 2026, the Export Price Index rose 5.02% year over year, while the Import Price Index grew 19.73%. The Terms of Trade Index stood at 90.26 points, a decrease of 12.29% compared to June 2025.
In June 2026, prices for the products Ecuador exports maintained a favorable trend, albeit with less momentum, while the cost of imports registered stronger growth.
The Export Price Index (IPX) reached 106.59 points, an increase of 5.02% compared to June 2025. Among the leading products, notable annual price increases were seen in copper (45.95%), crude oil (30.11%), and gold (20.16%). By contrast, the Export Volume Index fell 6.13% year over year, mainly due to lower volumes of crude oil (-21.30%) and copper (-31.68%). The price of cocoa also showed a monthly recovery of 5.76%; however, it remained 47.61% below the level recorded a year earlier.
Regarding external purchases, the Import Price Index (IPM) stood at 118.09 points, up 19.73% year over year and 0.82% compared to May. Fuels and lubricants were the main source of upward pressure, with a 60.29% increase compared to June 2025.
Unlike prices, the volume of imports registered a year-over-year change of -0.73%. This shows that the 18.86% increase in the value of imports was mainly associated with higher prices for goods purchased abroad.
Against this backdrop, the Terms of Trade Index (ITI) stood at 90.26 points, a contraction of 5.69% month over month and 12.29% year over year. This indicator shows that, in June 2026, import prices grew at a faster pace than export prices.
